Pardon if this is disjointed; it's late, and I have been typing fast enough that it's nearly a stream of consciousness because I'm tired and everything kinda clicked at once. People keep saying that Richy is Jake. I had entertained that notion, but after playing the whole of the game I no longer can. I agree with Jessy that it's no one from the group... but what if he's not entirely a stranger, either? For Richy and Jake to be the same person would require something drastic and barely believable, like a diagnosis of DID (Richy does NOT seem traumatized or depressed, more bland and an open book with a cheerful attitude, and unlike Jake he doesn't care about Hannah) or him just being an absolute sociopathic asshole, lying to everyone so hard all the time that by the end of the story everyone will hate tf out of him. Think about it: all this time, he was the one creeping people out? No one would forgive him and Mr. Don't Rock the Boat WOULD care, he'd hate that. The player shouldn't forgive Jake either, if he was Richy.

La progressione degli eventi è curata con attenzione e credibilità. Da un lato la presa di coscienza di Brandon delle proprie super capacità e dall'altro lo sconcerto e le preoccupazioni dei genitori che devono confrontarsi con qualcosa di insospettato e terribile. Anche il legame tra Brandon e la propria natura aliena, rappresentata da ciò che è nascosto nella rimessa, è un aspetto interessante che richiama suggestioni lovecraftiane di indubbio fascino. L'idea di prendere le classiche origini del più classico dei super eroi e utilizzarle per una revisione radicale della prospettiva è brillante. Anche il fatto che Brandon, quando si rende conto della propria natura, prenda a indossare, all'occorrenza, una sorta di rudimentale costume da super eroe rende bene l'idea del gioco sviluppato dal film sull'identità e sulla vera natura di ciò che un super eroe davvero è o può essere, soprattutto in relazione a chi super eroe invece non è. A questo proposito, il film evita la facile scorciatoia della vendetta, della rivalsa o del male quale prodotto delle distorsioni della società: Brandon è stato accudito con amore dalla famiglia e l'atteggiamento non sempre amichevole dei compagni di scuola, che peraltro resta su toni molto lievi, è più una reazione al suo comportamento che un motivo per il suo cambiamento di attitudine.
